Intex on Thursday launched a new smartphone in its Aqua series – the Intex Aqua i5 HD – for the Indian market, at Rs. 9,990. The successor to Intex Aqua i5, the smartphone is be available in the market starting Thursday.
The Intex Aqua i5 HD is a dual-SIM (GSM+WCDMA) smartphone with dual standby support. It runs onAndroid 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. The company also promises to roll out an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the smartphone soon.

With the purchase of this smartphone, Intex is giving 5GB of cloud storage for free. In addition, there is also a screen guard and a flip cover that you will get for free.
For cameras, there is a 13MP rear shooter and 5MP front shooter. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that supports Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. It is equipped with four sensors – Light Sensor, Magnetic Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and G sensor.
Commenting on the launch, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head of the Mobile vertical at Intex said, “At Intex development centre, we constantly conduct surveys to study customer preference and usage patterns. We launched Aqua i5 HD at below 10k price tag for users who adore image quality and love seeing the virtual world come alive at a 5-inch OGS display screen. We at Intex, aim to strengthen connect with consumers while we understand their needs and constantly innovate to meet the aspirations at an affordable price point”.
The Intex Aqua i5 HD will be available in two colors – White & Black.
In the current financial year, Intex plans to invest Rs. 150 crores on marketing, of which 100 crore will be spent on the smartphone segment. The company also shared that it will focus on smartphone in the price bracket of Rs 12,000 to 13,000 in this financial year.
