Last week, Xiaomi had announced the Mi3 in India, which now has been launched for Rs.13,999 instead of the original announced price of Rs.14,999. The company had made this announcement last week, but along with the Mi3 the company has announced that the RedMi 1S, and RedMi Note are also coming to India for Rs6,999 and Rs.9,999 respectively. According to the company, the RedMi 1S andRedMi Note will be launch soon. The Mi3 is up for pre-registration today and the Mi3 will be available via FlipKart on July 22.

The real highlight of the Mi 3 is what lies under the hood. The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 8274AB SoC, which the company says offers a 20 percent performance gain compared to the earlier Snapdragon 800 chips. The phone handled everything we threw at it with aplomb, and while we didn’t get a chance to run benchmarks at the event, Xiaomi highlighted in its presentation that the AnTuTu score of the Mi 3 is higher than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5  which should give you some idea about the kind of power this beast carries.

Xiaomi Mi 3 software

On the software front, the flagship device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, wrapped under Xiaomi’s MIUI version 5 UI.

Xiaomi Mi 3 comparison

With the kind of specifications it boasts, the Xiaomi Mi 3 will be up against flagship devices like the Google Nexus 5, LG G2 and the Sony Xperia Z1 among others. While these devices are similarly specced it is the price section that is the biggest differentiator. Where these phones are priced above Rs 25,000, the Xiaomi Mi 3 is priced at an insane Rs 13,999.

Pros: Well built, quality finish, nice screen with good viewing angles, excellent touch response and super smooth glass finish for effortless swiping.

Cons: Kinda large device for a 5-inch screen size, screen is a finger print magnet.

Bottomline: For its asking price of Rs. 13999, the Xiaomi Mi3 does feel well-built and premium, for its asking price.
