Reliance Jio introduces JioGroupTalk app for group calling through VoLTE

Reliance Jio’s new app, Jio Group Talk comes with features like ‘Lecture Mode’ which lets only one member and mutes the rest.

Reliance Jio is making all its best efforts to engage its users with its mobile app platform. After launching the JioRail application to book IRCTC’s reserved ticket booking service on the JioPhone and JioPhone 2, Reliance Jio has now announced the launch of the JioGroupTalk app on Android mobile phones. The JioGroupTalk application can be used to make group calls to your family, friends and relatives through VoLTE.

The mobile application is available on the Google Play Store and has been listed as “One Touch Multi-Party Calling application exclusively for Jio Users”. The application is designed in a very simple user interface and can be used to make group conference calls with up to 10 members. With JioGroupTalk, users will no longer need to add more users one by one as they now has option to select multiple contacts in one Go.

The JioGroupTalk application supports High Definition Calling support feature thus offering improved voice quality even in groups voice chats. Group conferences can be set up in real time and users can send conference invitation to all selected participants with a single click and manage them during a conference. When in a conference, the app will also allow you to Add/Remove participants and mute participants selectively.

Additionally, there’s one more unique feature known as Lecture Mode which when turned on will only allow one member to speak so that the others get to listen attentively.

Currently, the JioGroupTalk application on the Play Store is on beta stage. The application can be downloaded from the Play Store and in order to register it, users will need to sign in using their Jio mobile number at which point an One time password (OTP) will be sent to their mobile number. Interested users have been asked to mail their mobile number for participating in the trial version of the application.

If compared with WhatsApp, while using Group Talk you have to either create a group, add people from your contact, to make make call, or you can also select up to 10 people and go for a conference call.

Through this app, people who are not tech-savvy can easily use this app for group or multiple calls. Some reports, however, say that the app would soon have video calling facility also.
