Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Band expected to launch at Mobile World Congress

More news about Samsung devices have been hovering over the Internet lately, especially with the upcoming Galaxy S5. According to recent reports, Samsung’s new smart watch, Galaxy Gear 2, will arrive early next year with the Galaxy S5.

Latest rumors suggest we circle our calendars for February in Barcelona, Spain. That’s where Mobile World Congress takes place, a venue where Samsung historically has big announcements and product unveilings.

Beyond that, we’re told to expect the Samsung Galaxy Band, which is a fitness tracker that will be able to sync all your relevant workout and vitality information with your smartphones. Samsung already showed interest in bringing health-related features to their phones with the pre-installed pedometer app, so a full-fledged fitness solution doesn’t sound too out of the ordinary.

Galaxy Gear 2 will be capable of pairing with KitKat-based Galaxy phones.

However, it’s not clear whether it will be backwards compatible with devices on Jelly Bean 4.3. The current Galaxy Gear requires that a phone has Jelly Bean 4.3 to pair it, as this uses the necessary Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
